Screening School Children for eye defects program. Dr. Ebtisam Al-Alawi - Bahrain
Screening detection of visual impairment in children is worthwhile since the condition is a serious health problem. School children formed an important large target group, which must be screened adequate for early detection of eye diseases and prevention of blindness.
A children screening program for eye defects at the primary schools was implemented in 1998 in Bahrain. And the screening was conducted by trained school teachers this program is supported by WHO. The aim is to present our experience and our recommendation for an effective blindness prevention program in children.
